Water-to-Go is delighted to be launching its most sustainable filter water bottle yet, the Sugarcane 55 cls.

With their recyclable filters, all  Water-to- Go bottles have for over a decade reduced the number of single-use plastic water bottles and mitigated the pollution they create. This first sugarcane bottle creates the platform for us to move away from fossil fuel products to new, innovative plant-based plastics.

About Sugarcane products

We all need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and this new process does just that! Sugarcane is grown to produce sugar, and normally the fibrous residue is treated as waste. We take that waste and allow it to ferment, which creates green eco-friendly ethanol. We then reuse the fibrous material, dry and compact it, and create biofuel bricks. Using these bricks to fuel two further processes, a plant-based plastic is created. This new material is lightweight, durable and dishwasher safe, and is made from plants, not fossil fuels.

Filter Technology

Our Unique 3-in-1 filter has been created based on technology originally developed for the NASA space programme.

The filter works instantly to protect against bacteria, parasites and microplastics reduces chemicals like chlorine and improves water taste.  

The three technologies used in a Water-to-Go filter are:

  1. Mechanical filtration; a very small pore size which stops contaminants passing through.
  2. Electrical (by a positive charge) which reduces the pore size even further and attracts the contaminants like a magnet, trapping them inside the filter.
  3. Activated carbon -our filters use activated carbon without using adhesives that would vastly reduce the carbon’s efficiency. Instead, the activated carbon is contained within the filter membrane itself. This technique helps further reduce the contaminants whilst also eliminating bad tastes and odours. 

The filter is hence ideal deal for hiking, camping, international travel and emergencies, it allows you to take any non-salt water from a stream, river, or tap and filter it instantly.  Once the filter is activated and your bottle is full you are ready to drink, no need to keep removing the lid and filter until you’re ready to refill your bottle again.

The filter removes:

  • 99.9999% for bacteria like E.Coli
  • 99.999-99.9999%  for viruses like Polio
  • 99.99% of microorganisms 
  • Also, Heavy metals (like lead), Chlorine and Fluoride are also filtered

Our filters can be safely used to filter 200 litres (3 months of constant use if you drink 2 litres a day).
